The Broncos travelled to North Middle School on Monday night hoping to come away with another clean sweep on the year. The A team got it going in the right direction with a dominating performance going up 20-2 in the 1st quarter. Brody Mitchell, Sid Kanaparthi and James Naughton set the aggressive tone on defense, not allowing North to get comfortable at all. The Broncos went into halftime with a 40-10 lead and the route was on. East for the third game in a row had double digit steals and against North they had 25. Final score was 61-22 East to improve to 3-0 on the year. Atharv Govinda and Kyle Baldridge had their best games of the year contributing points, rebounds and steals. Broncos were led in scoring by Brody Mitchell, who had 23 points. The player of the game is Sid Kanaparthi who had 15 points, 8 steals, 4 assists and 3 rebounds.
The B team followed up A team’s impressive performance with a solid one of their own. East had a nail-biter down to the last second of the game as they fought off a comeback from the Cougars. Player of the game, Robert Saunders, was a great spark for the Broncos as he led the team with 8 points. The guards on the team used great ball-handling skills to go against the press North applied. North missed a shot as time expired, giving East the win 27-25 improving to 3-0 on the year.
The final game of the night was the East C team. The Broncos were able to jump all over the Cougars from the tip using their athleticism to have great pressure, forcing many turnovers. Jackson Pope-Hopkins had 15 points, Cooper Keller had 9 points, and Myles Wellington added 6 points. Through a full team domination, East improved to 3-0 on the year with a 38-11 victory led by player of the game, Cooper Keller.
